Balance
Short post that will allow me to justify spending a few hours in Cinema 4D making a fun MoGraph idea.
A relatively undiscussed facet of the visual media career is the triangle of balance. This concept, helps me with budgeting, and also allows me to be pragmatic in terms of bidding. This ones for the creatives out there. This triangle has 3 points: Good. Fast. Cheap. I use this triangle to gauge projects, portfolio etc. Taught to me by a builder client, lemme break it down for ya!
Good
Good means quality. This facet of the triangle emphasizes the finished results perceived quality.
Fast
Timelines, and urgency. What kind of time variable can be attributed to the project.
Cheap
Budget, and the almighty dollar. How much will this make you as an artist?
You can only ever have 2 elements of this triangle for projects. If your client needs something fast, and good? It’s not cheap. Cheap and good? It ain’t fast. Using this method isn’t perfect, I’ll be the first to agree with that, but as a general rule of thumb, it can be applied quickly and effectively to those bids that need some kind of answer on the spot.
Hope this helps you in your creative journey!
